Zoe Loughlin, 8, holds the mat while Katrina Griffith, 8, lands a kick during Escobar Training Ground’s “Kicking for Kenzie” fundraiser Thursday evening. Dori Escobar said she and her fiance, Cory, wanted to raise money for McKenzie Eckman, a local child who is battling leukemia.

“We just want to help the kids and the community any way we can,” Escobar said. “Because we’re a martial arts school, it’s an important lesson for the kids to learn. Everyone should help one another.” Donations can also be made at the El Dorado Savings Bank for the McKenzie Rose Eckman Cancer Relief Fund.
