‘Kiddie Kapers’ highlights success of summer theater

Sierra Tahoe Theatre Company will present Kiddie Kapers 2001 at 7 p.m. July 26, 27 and 28 in the South Tahoe High School Little Theater. The production is the culmination of a month long theater workshop for children from kindergarten through high school.

Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and children. Tickets may be purchased from any of the performers in advance or at the door. Proceeds will go toward funding future summer workshops.

This is the 21st year of youth summer workshops. In the past they have presented such plays and musicals as “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “The Princess and the Pea,” “The Wiz,” and “Narnia.”

Kiddie Kappers is a musical revue of Broadway and off-Broadway musicals and plays that feature young people. Under the direction of Bob Grant, the performers will present scenes from a variety of well-loved shows.

“We have many familiar faces – children who have participated in past years as well as new stars who are performing with us for the first time,” Grant said.

In addition, the second half of the show will feature the dance talents of Lake Tahoe’s Shining Stars. They will present the show they will be be performing at Disney’s California Adventure Park in Anaheim on Aug. 1.
