Kids & Horses seeks volunteers

Staff reports

Kids & Horses is working to expand its program and is currently seeking volunteers to assist with side walking during lessons.

The new volunteer training will be from 10 a.m. to noon May 14 at the Kids & Horses Ranch at 2869 Esaw Street in Minden.

Volunteers will watch a video about therapeutic riding and safety requirements and will move outside to get hands-on training with horses and mock lessons.

Kids & Horses trains new volunteers to the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association regulations – a national organization that provides leadership, operating standards, safety rules, regulations and insurance coverage for approved equine-assisted therapeutic riding centers. Kids & Horses lessons are a half-hour long, Sundays through Tuesdays.

Volunteers can give as little or as much time as they want as long as they commit to a consistent schedule.

E-mail Kids & Horses at or call 775-267-1775.
