Kids invited to take a break
June 28, 2007
Lake Tahoe Community Fellowship will sponsor a fun-filled evening for youth so they can take their minds off the stresses of the Angora fire for at least a few hours. “Firebreak” will give the youth a chance to be kids and have some fun, while letting them know their community loves them and they are not alone in this.
The event will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Lake Tahoe Christian Fellowship, 3580 Blackwood Road. Parents should sign up their children before attending at the evacuation center at the Recreation Complex, Lake Tahoe Christian Fellowship or the South Tahoe Ice Arena. For more information call (530) 544-4357.
There will be lots of fun activities along with visits from firefighters and a gymnastics exhibition. Smokey Bear may also show up. Activities will include movies, arts and crafts, fun challenges and music.
“Firebreak” will also give mom and dad an opportunity to spend some much-needed time with each other to talk and evaluate, knowing their children are having fun in a safe environment.
Local restaurants are being asked to donate dinner gift certificates for this event to help LTCF provide a little respite for these affected families.
Volunteers are needed to help with events and donate dinner gift certificates. To volunteer or make a donation e-mail Jen at FireBreak62907@hotmail.com.
