Addie Chernus, a silk art instructor at Lake Tahoe Community College, shared her love and knowledge of painting on silk with Cindi Pastore’s fourth-grade class at Bijou Community School this week. This is part of the Elementary Arts Program that is staffed by volunteers and special guest artists.

With help from Sue Davis, Chernus introduced the colorful art project to the students. The painted silk can be made into a class quilt, wall hanging or pillow or it may be framed.

Volunteers to help with the Elementary Arts Program are always needed. For more information, contact Joy Rogers at (530) 573-1657.
