Kinder Kup race rescheduled for Sunday

Provided to the TribuneSkiers and snowboarders age 6 and younger are invited to participate in the Kinder Kup races being held Sunday and March 16 at Heavenly Mountain Resort.

The second race of the Kinder Kup race series was postponed last weekend because of inclement weather. The Kinder Kup race for skiers and boarders ages 6 and younger will take place Sunday on the World Cup run at Heavenly Mountain Resort.

The event will begin with one to two practice runs at 9 a.m., and the race start time is at 10 a.m.

Children as young as 2 have participated in past Kinder Kup races with some help from their parents down the race course. No previous gate or race experience is necessary. Athletes must either have the knowledge and ability to ride a chairlift or be accompanied by an adult.

All participants receive medals and a lift ticket to ride the World Cup chair. Parents need a lift ticket or a season pass to ride the chair.

A barbecue and cotton candy will be available for the participants to enjoy, and goodie bags will be given to all racers. The entry fee is $20 per race.

For registration and more information, contact the Heavenly Ski Foundation at (530) 541-7354.
