Three artists, all members of the Tahoe Art League, were recognized for their work in the league’s contest for July.

Jeanne Hart is the first-prize winner for her colorful oil painting of a rooster titled, “King of the Roost.” Dramatic value contrast, effective texturing, and careful brushwork all contribute to this striking painting that she created for her son, Chris Hart, a retired fire captain. The second-place award went to Corrie Francis for her dreamlike digital montage titled, “Snow Goose.” Francis is a freelance animator, artist and photographer, who works and teaches in the Tahoe area. Studies at Dartmouth and University of Southern California led to an MFA in animation and digital art.
