Kirkwood gets 7 inches of snow, chains required on CA-88
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — The latest storm moving through the region mostly missed the Tahoe Basin to the south, with resorts around the lake reporting anywhere from zero to 3 inches of snow.
Heavenly Mountain Resort reported 3 inches in the last 24 hours while Diamond Peak Ski Resort got 2 and Northstar, Palisades and Homewood all reported 0-1 inch.
The storm hit harder to the south where Kirkwood Mountain Resort received about 7 inches. For motorists heading that way Tuesday morning, chains are required on all vehicles except 4-wheel drive with snow tires on California State Route 88 from Pickett’s Junction past the resort, according to nvroads.com.
After the storm moves out Tuesday morning, mostly sunny conditions are expected with a high in the mid 50s.
Mostly sunny to partly cloudy weather is expected through the week into the weekend with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s with the lows in the mid 20s to low 30s.
