Kirkwood to show Banff Film Festival

Kirkwood Mountain Resort expects to bring out adventurers looking for a voyeuristic thrill from the best of the Banff Mountain Film Festival.

It is set for 8 p.m. Saturday.

The annual festival held in Banff, Canada, every year sends out the 30 best films selected in categories ranging from extreme sports to mountain culture. The competition saw 250 entries representing 27 countries.

The names say everything about what a filmgoer can expect.

Six films Kirkwood plans to present include the 2001 People’s Choice Award — “Berserk in the Antarctic,” a film that documents a challenge-filled journey to the province by a 19-year-old Norwegian sailor. The festival tour also features “Unizaba,” a film about a unicycle descent down a volcano in Mexico.
