Kudos and Kindess: Disaster Resource Center thanks Meyers community

The board members of the Community Disaster Resource Center (CDRC) ould like to apologize for an omission in the thank you ad which ran in two recent editions of the Tahoe Daily Tribune. Regrettably some of donations made to the Meyers Community event held in July of 2007 were not included on the list. We were unable to acknowledge everyone due to the fact that the list was compiled from checks received by the Angora Fire Fund and CDRC, and thus we were not able to track individual and business donations made directly at this July 2007 event.

We would like to acknowledge Kenny Curtzwiler, Lira’s Market, Meyer’s Downtown Cafe and the entire community of Meyers who put a great deal of effort into this event. On behalf of the fire survivors we thank all of those who contributed to the success of the event which raised over $20,000. These funds became part of the Angora Fire Fund.

The Angora Fire Fund, which went through a name change and became the Community Disaster Resource Center, raised and distributed funds to survivors of the Angora Fire. These funds were distributed to families and individuals who applied for assistance within the allotted time period. The application period ended in June of 2009.

Again, we thank all who contributed to help our community members in their time of need.

Dick Schwarte

Chairman of the Board
