Tahoe Daily Tribune Staff Reports

To the editor:

The spring conference for the Council on Mathematics of California Community Colleges (CMC3) was held in Lake Tahoe last week. Once again, it was a success due to the generosity of our local businesses that donated prizes to our annual event. The math department of Lake Tahoe Community College would like to thank the Lakeside Inn & Casino, Lake Tahoe Pizza Company, The Cork and More, Sierra Shirts and Kentucky Fried Chicken for the continued support that has kept the conference participants returning to Lake Tahoe each year.

Thanks to Cinco de Mayo donors

To the editor:

As many of you may have read on May 5 in the Tribune, the Family Resource Center kicked off a wonderful Cinco de Mayo week with our first annual Cinco de Mayo Fund-raiser on May 3. This event was arranged by us, but simply could not have been possible without all of the wonderful contributions from local restaurants and volunteers – specifically, Chevys Fresh Mex, Taberna in Lakeside Inn, The Cantina, Taco Taqueria and Los Mexicanos contributed so much to our event.

These restaurants went above and beyond with their contributions of staff, food, and time to our guests. We would also like to take the time to send special thanks to the Edgewood Tahoe for contributing their beautiful facility for our use, and also working so well with our staff and volunteers to coordinate this event. We’d like to thank everyone who helped to donate drinks, which includes Albertsons, Raley’s Stateline, and Safeway stores. La Mexicana Meat Market also contributed bread to our event, which was very popular among our guests. Our raffle was made tremendously successful because of the many who donated prizes, all of whom deserve thanks. We’d also like to thank the Mother’s Support Group for spending countless hours preparing decorations for our event.

But, most of all, we thank the community for their participation and efforts to recognize and assist the Family Resource Center in giving back to the community. The success of this event proves that the community sees the hard and tireless work of our staff and volunteers and will ensure that we can continue these efforts into the future.

Lastly, we would like to thank the Tahoe Daily Tribune for all of their publicity and efforts to keep the Family Resource Center in the eyes of the community, especially for this fund-raiser. We hope to see you all at next year’s Cinco de Mayo.

Diabetes fund donors thanked

To the editor:

The family of Kristie Lynn Mora wishes to thank the many people in the community who made donations to the Diabetes Fund to help local children with diabetes. Along with her own three children, who were the center of her life, Kris loved all kids and treated them like they were her own – she would be most gratified by the concern and generosity of all who contributed.
