Kudos and Kindness

Tahoe Daily Tribune Staff Reports

To the editor:

Meyers Elementary School fifth-grade class would like to extend a big thank you to the many individuals and businesses who helped make our Valentine’s Spaghetti Dinner field trip fund-raiser a great success.

The money raised in this and other fund-raisers scheduled throughout the year will be used to help offset the costs of the end-of-the-year class trip to the Marine Science Institute in Redwood City, and the Coyote Point Environmental Museum in San Mateo.

Snowboarder thanks supporters

To the editor:

I recently had the opportunity to compete in the USASA National Championships in Angel Fire, N.M. It was a great experience and I would like to recognize some of the people who helped me achieve it.

Lauren and Dick Yost of The Village Mountain Surf & Sports, your support meant so much to me, thanks for all you did. Stephanie McConnell, the rep for Nikita, thanks for all the great clothes that kept me looking good on and off the mountain. Nancy, Judy and all my buddies at the Red Hut, thanks for allowing me the time to pursue athletics and still have a job at the best place in town. To all my teachers at South Tahoe High School, thank you for taking the time to put together independent study work for me.

Finally, thanks to my Mom and Dad, who have supported and sponsored me for longer than anyone.

Thanks for Season for Peace

To the editor:

I want to share our gratitude for Denese Schellink and the committee who organized the Season for Peace and Nonviolence. The closing ceremony was held April 3 at Lake Tahoe Community College and included many diverse presentations highlighting actions for peace and nonviolence.

This public celebration was joyful, vibrant and inspiring. Were it not for hard work and commitment of the many sponsors and individuals who contributed, our community would be poorer indeed. Thank you.
