Kudos and Kindness: Thank you for helping kids get closer to goal

The Odyssey of the Mind team, California state winners, would like to thank the Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe for the generous donation to help the team get to World Finals in Lansing, Mich., next month. The fundraising is to pay for airfare for the team and coach as well as food and lodging on the Michigan State campus where the event is taking place May 26 to 30.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for this team to not only have the experience of traveling and competing, but also being rewarded for their hard work and perseverance.

Anyone who would like to donate to the cause may contact principal Ryan Galles at Sierra House Elementary. Checks can be made out to Sierra House PTA. Additional events and fundraisers that the community may participate include $10 raffle tickets available at the school, and:

– April 21, 5 to 9 p.m., Bob Dog Pizza, 3141 Highway 50, Meyers. Dine in or out, 25 percent will be donated.

– April 24, 8 .m. to 1 p.m., rummage sale, Sierra House Elementary School.

– May 13, Coyote Grill, 212 Elk’s Point Road. All-you-can-eat chili for $1; portion of proceeds goes to the team.
