Kudos and Kindness: Thank you for supporting Relay for Life

The South Tahoe area Relay for Life was held August 7 and 8. The survivors that attended were served a meal supported by the Soroptimist morning group (SITS). The morning Soroptimists also donated $500 to the relay to enhance women’s survival and treatment for cancer. Thanks to the Soroptimist International of the Tahoe Sierra.

Another thank you goes to Kahle Community Center personnel. Not only have they allowed the relay to be held on the fields for five years, but we use the restrooms and electricity. This year, though, Kahle went over the top in cooperation. The big thunderstorm with its wind and lightning that came through on Saturday about 7 p.m. threatened the dog walk and the luminaria ceremony. Kahle let us come in! We had an impromptu completion of the Canines for a Cure walk and a lovely and dry luminaria ceremony thanks to the flexibility of Kahle’s staff. Then we all went outside to a beautiful sunset and to light the luminaria that shown through a dry night.

Thank you so much Kahle from the survivors and other relayers.
