KUDOS: Cheer team success helped by community’s generosity

To the editor:

The Elite Eagles Cheer Team ended its 2000-2001 cheer season with great success. The Dec. 10, 2000, competition in Sacramento earned the team a third place. UCA’s Northern California Championship earned the team a second place and our final competition for the season was held in Lodi, Calif. USA’s Nor Cal Spirit Championship earned the team first place in the Jr. All Star Division.

The team would like to thank this opportunity to thank the community for its continued support by attending our car washes and Longs Drugs, Kmart and Smart & Final for their generosity. Special thanks goes out to our coaches past and present for their hard work, Tahoe Gymnastics, South Tahoe Middle School, Tahoe Valley Elementary, Sierra House Elementary, St. Theresa Catholic School and to Safeway for the use of their facility, without which our practice session would not have taken place. Thanks also to Mrs. and Mrs. Barker at South Y Shell, John Lowe Construction, Mr. Metoyer, Heidi Metoyer, Toni Lowe, Sheri Schimmel, Judy Klingler, KRLT and KTHO and to all our parents.

We ended our season with a fabulous banquet at the Tahoe Seasons Resort. Our special thanks go to the banquet department team and staff and Chef Harvey for his excellent selection in the menu and his support of our cheer team.
