Kudos: Friends and business help raise riding entry fee

To the editor:

Recently, I received the honor of attending the USASA national snowboarding competitions in Mammoth, Calif. It was an exciting week spent with many of my friends from Tahoe, and others from all over the U.S.

I did not reach the podium to receive first-, second- or third-place, but I did reach a higher level of performance and personal growth. Thanks to all my snowboarding friends for their support, tips, encouragement and kindness. This trip would not have been possible without the help of others.

First, I’d like to thank my mom, Tammy. She spent a lot of time and money supporting me and my competitions. She gave 150 percent, even during difficult times for our family. Thanks mom, I love you.

I’d also like to thank my soccer coach and his wife, Randy and Wendy Volkmar, owners of Ponderosa Glass. They encouraged me and helped sponsor my entry fee. Thank you both very much. It was a great experience and a lot of fun. I really appreciate everyone’s support.
