Kudos: Generosity of community is amazing

To the editor:

Where do we begin to offer our profound thanks to all the amazing and wonderful people of South Lake Tahoe? We are truly in awe that help has come to us at this most difficult time in our lives, and from so many diverse sources, grateful is not enough to express how much emotion has been evoked by the generosity of our friends and acquaintances.

We thank Freshies for their spur of the moment fund-raiser that took place in the Fremont Mall/Lakeview Plaza. We heard that a good time was had by all. We are truly appreciative for your efforts on our part. We would like to extend our gratitude to Debra Vidro for organizing the Valentine’s Day Raffle for the stay at Sorensons. We hope that the winner/winners had an enjoyable getaway. The Sunrise Kiwanis donated a portion of their profit to our cause and it could not have been more timely. Monte was sure that he was at the end of his therapy, but was extremely discouraged to find that he is only half way there. He needs all of his friends to help keep his spirits up as we begin, it seems, all over again.

We are especially thankful to Beverly and Dan Ott Painting for getting the fund-raising started for us at El Dorado Savings, which is still open. We are honored to call them our friends.

We are still thanking people who are contributing to the trust that has been opened at El Dorado Savings. We have heard from people in the surrounding communities as well as our own Tahoe family. We are blessed. Our thanks to all of you.

Many thanks to a community that cares.

Monte and Melanie Reece
