Kudos & Kindness

To the editor:

Sierra Recovery Center would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Ed Johns and his staff at Floppys Computers.

Ed and his staff have been helping us with our computer issues and upgrades for quite some time now. They do a wonderful job and are always there when we need technical support. We would not be a functioning office without the support of Ed and his team. Thanks guys.

Hundreds were at Cinco festival

To the editor:

The Family Resource Center held its second “Cinco de Mayo” festival on May 2 at Heavenly Mountain Resort. It was a fantastic event, with more than 500 members of the community coming to celebrate the Hispanic culture – mariachis, Folklorico dancing by FRC children’s and South Tahoe High School groups, flamenco dancing, and excellent food provided by Lakeside Casino’s Taberna, Applebee’s, Chevy’s, The Cantina, El Parque, Los Mexicanos, Sub Station Deli, and Taqueria Margaritas. A hearty thank you to the restaurants for their support of the Family Resource Center, and a very gracious thank you to Heavenly Ski Resort, particularly Adrian Hoeflein, for their generosity with the use of the facility, and all of the many ways they assisted in ensuring this event was a success. We’d like to thank everyone who contributed.

The raffle was tremendously successful because of the many donated prizes and The Kinship and Mother Support spent countless hours preparing decorations for the event.

Most of all we thank the community for their participation and recognizing the Family Resource Center. Again, we would like to thank the Tahoe Daily Tribune for all the publicity and efforts to keep the Family Resource Center in the eyes of the community.

Gardening talk was a success

To the editor:

On behalf of the South Lake Tahoe Friends of the Library I would like to thank Carolyn Meiers for her “local gardening discussion” that was held at the South Lake Tahoe Branch Library Conference Room on April 30.

Topics of discussion ranged from perennials to pests to sweet peas. More than 25 members of the local gardening community were in attendance. Once again, I would like to thank Carolyn Meiers for leading a wonderful discussion of local gardening at our library.
