Kudos & Kindness

To the editor:
Recently South Lake Tahoe was visited by 15 wonderful students from France through the Horizons du Monde program. These students ranged in age from 14 to 18. The goal was to see and experience the American lifestyle first-hand. The students spent three fun-filled weeks visiting, touring and learning very much about Tahoe.
Many thanks to the Tahoe Queen for donating cruise tickets allowing these students to view our magnificent lake and surroundings; to Heavenly Valley for the discount tickets for gondola rides which allowed students to see a very different and breathtaking view only possible from the mountain tops; to John Shafer at the Mark Twain in Virginia City for giving the students a once in a lifetime opportunity to pan for gold. Most of all, I would like to thank the amazing families for opening their hearts and their homes in welcoming these students from France.
Personal thanks go to Susan Carreau, Emily and Steve Novak, Madelyn and Steve Fernald, Renee and Mark Gorevin, Melinda and Mark Garratt, Becky and Francis Fortier, Nathasha and Ted Long, Jorge and Alejandra Orozco, Cherie Kagan, Alex and Maria Urreaga, Toni and Tom Yant, Diana and Dory Smith and last, but not least, Sue and Bob Novasel. It was very comforting to know that students were placed in such terrific homes.
