Dan Thrift/Tahoe Daily Tribune/ Kurt Burris, left, pours a sample of his Madrona wine for Pamela Camille during the Sierra Club Wine Tasting at Stonehenge-at-Tahoe.

To the editor:

The Tahoe Area Sierra Club’s second annual wine tasting, Evening at Stonehenge, was a wonderful, sold-out event drawing more than 200 guests. Madrona wines, books and stories by historian Don Lane, music by Dream Spirit Baroque Band, Winterhill Olive Oils and the art of Annette Schoonover and Tara O’Hara were enjoyed by all.

Two Sisters Catering provided delicious food and delighted everyone with their fabulous Bruschetta Bar. Will and Rosemarie Twining told the crowd about the building of Stonehenge-at-Tahoe and of the special rooms in the house. It was truly a special evening.

The proceeds of the event will be used to keep both locals and visitors informed about how to care for this national treasure of ours – how to protect Lake Tahoe by using proper fertilizer, planting native vegetation and evaluating whether 220 new private piers are good for the lake.

We also know that kids are our future and are very excited about helping out with the new Environmental Science Magnet School in Meyers.
