Event raised diabetes funds

Thank you to Lindsay Wines and the George Whittell Leadership Committee for hosting the Dodge Ball For Diabetes event June 1.

Much thanks also to the students and teams who participated and to the Red Hut and Off The Hook, who provided prizes for the event. The money raised goes toward the Barton Hospital Foundation Diabetes Fund, which supports activities such as diabetes camp for children. I look forward to next year’s event.

Red Cross says ‘thank you’

The American Red Cross South Lake Tahoe team thanks its Red Cross members and community members and businesses for their assistance and generosity serving Angora fire victims.

Many people in our Red Cross stations (the shelter, the bulk distribution center, the service center, and the shelter warehouse) offered to help in any way possible. We appreciate the countless numbers who so willingly gave their time, money and food.

Thanks, also, to Gary Moore and his wonderful staff with the recreation center for the use of their facility and their support. In addition, we are grateful for all the help from local churches and service organizations during this crisis. We are truly overwhelmed by the outpouring of care and concern that we witnessed from our community. Thank you South Lake Tahoe.

Skyland woman ‘an angel’

Does every neighborhood have an angel, or is Skyland just lucky? The Skyland Fire Safe Council has a dedicated worked named Ann Grant. She is “on the job” 24/7 with amazing dedication.

Skyland is a much safer area due to Ann’s continued, constant work. I’m sure she has never received the thank you that she deserves. You are a blessing to Skyland, Ann. Thank you.
