Kudos & Kindness
Autumn Fest: Fall in the Tahoe Garden at the Lake Tahoe Demonstration Garden was a great success, with more than 300 attendees and due to compost and recycle bins less than three pounds of trash produced.
Autumn Fest showcased the best of fall in the Tahoe Garden with tips on winterizing and fall planting. Bobbing for apples, browsing the scarecrow silent auction and dancing to bluegrass created a delightful atmosphere at the community garden.
The demonstration garden committee thanks Nel’s Tahoe Supply and Meek’s Lumber & Hardware for donating raffle prizes. Kudos to Blue Angel for providing great munchies and delicious free cider.
Highlights of the festival included face painting by the Boys & Girls Club, donated scarecrows by the Environmental Magnet School, balloon animals by Tarno Greene, educational speakers Naomi Murray of Aspen Hollow and Robin Stanley of UC Cooperative Extension El Dorado Master Gardeners, and a fall decoration workshop by Diane Johnson.
The public also received free fertilizer, water conservation kits and wildflower seeds at the educational booths hosted by the Bear League, TRCD, STUPD and TRPA.
Thank you to all who worked hard to promote and participate in the event. See you next year.
