Kudos & Kindness

On Dec. 6, Freshies Restaurant and Bar hosted its seventh annual charity event to benefit Christmas Cheer All Year.

Thanks to Wilma, Joanne and all volunteers who help there, especially this time of year. The event at Freshies was a great success and lots of fun.

Thanks to JJ Entertainment, which offered its DJ talents and played an all-Hawaiian music selection; Bill Horning’s Santa was jolly and much loved by all; and the Freshies crew gave their time and donated all tips that evening. Silent auction prize donors included Sierra Athletic Club, Inn by the Lake, Skydive Tahoe and the Powder House, and 29 local businesses donated raffle prizes.

We were able to bring $2,734 to Christmas Cheer.

Heavenly Foundation thanks supporters

The Heavenly Ski & Snowboard Foundation has just started another season of snowboarding, freestyle and Alpine ski racing. The foundation thanks Heavenly Mountain Resort and Blaise Carrig for providing season-pass scholarships to 12 of our athletes.

Without this support from Heavenly, through scholarship passes and allowing our athletes to train on the mountain, the racing and competition dreams of many of our athletes would not be made possible.

Thanks, too, to MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa and the local community for another successful Ski and Snowboard Swap. The money raised funds our athletic programs.
