Kudos & Kindness:
With enthusiasm and dedication, the 2014 AARP Tax-Aide team of volunteers successfully concluded another tax season. They served the community once again by tirelessly preparing more than 600 tax returns for taxpayers of all ages and incomes at no charge.
Our counselors invested significant time to be trained and certified by the IRS so that they could perform this valuable service for the community. Deep appreciation is extended to the leaders of the tax team: Becca, Carol, Norine, Pat, Richard and Rosalie. Our counselors: Andrea, Bob, Debbie, Dee N., George, Joan, Kay, Lynn, Maria, Marlene and Teri generously volunteered their time to complete the tax returns. Recognition is also given to our Client Facilitators: Bernie, Dee H., Dot, June, Margaret and Mike, who greeted our taxpayers and prepared the needed paperwork for the completion of the returns. In addition, special thanks are extended to the staff of the Senior Center, Cheryl, Gildardo, Pam and Susie (x2), who supported the program by graciously sharing the facility with the tax team. The team gave over 100 hours each week to help almost 1000 taxpayers. If we consider that our local taxpayers might spend an average of $200 to have a return prepared, we can estimate that the AARP Tax-Aide program saved our community over $100,000. Congratulations Tax-Aide Team of 2014 for a job very well done!
