Kudos & Kindness

To the editor:

I would like to thank Dr. Kaplan and his staff for their time and effort in getting my crowned tooth back into place with temporary cement. They weren’t going to let me be miserable at this time of year.

As it turned out, my dentist wasn’t available. Dr. Kaplan and his staff told me to come in, and within an hour had me out the door without a charge.

Thank you, Dr. Kaplan, and to your very caring staff. You made my Thanksgiving holiday truly memorable and edible.

Stranger offered comforting words

To the editor:

On Nov. 22 at about 6 p.m. I was sitting in front of Sierra Veterinary Hospital in tears. I had just put my 16-year-old dog, Bar-B-Que, that I have had since she was 9 weeks old, to sleep. I was alone and just sat in tears.

When a lady came along and knocked on my window, I rolled my window down. Even though I did not know who she was, she told me I just looked like I needed a friend and a hug. I really did at that point. She did not know who I was but invited me to her home if I just needed to talk or a hug. I was so upset I forgot her name and address, but I would like to thank you. It is nice to know that in a town like Tahoe, you can still rely on the kindness of strangers.

I don’t remember your name or where you live, except you live on the lake on Lakeview, but thank you so much for your comforting words and concern.
