Kudos & Kindness

To the editor:

The Kiwanis Club of Tahoe Sierra would like to thank everyone who made our second annual Oktoberfest a great success. We truly appreciate all our local merchants for their donations as well as the El Dorado Wineries for their wonderful contribution.

We would also like to give a special thanks to our corporate sponsor KOWL and to the Horizon for being so accommodating and for providing such an excellent meal to all our guests. And, to all those who attended this year’s function we appreciate your support and hope to see you next year.

Hospice staff are ‘angels’

To the editor:

Our community should be reminded that in the most difficult times of illness and end-of-life issues, Barton Hospice of the Lake is an invaluable resource.

My beloved late husband of 58 years, Bert Barnett, was professionally and tenderly cared for by the dedicated people of Hospice. We referred to them as “Angels without wings.” No matter the time of day or night, they were only a phone call away – when they weren’t in our home with us hour after hour.

Because there’s so much wrong in the world, it’s especially important to praise the things that can restore our faith. Hospice, in giving assistance to the dying and their loved ones, enhances life for us all.

We are also grateful to Dr. Steve Brooks and Dr. Paul Rork for their time, kindness and caring.
