Kudos & Kindness
To the editor:
The special needs students in Mrs. Lyons’ and Mrs. Carmichael’s classes at Sierra House School and our preschool classes at Al Tahoe had a terrific time with Santa on Dec. 15, thanks to the Kiwanis Sunrisers.
Santa (aka Blackie) and his helper (aka Elizabeth) came to visit our students and were treated to holiday smiles and treats. Every child received a gift chosen just for them and provided through generosity of the members of the Kiwanis Sunrisers Club. This grand tradition has gone on for the past 20 years.
A very special thank you goes to Steve Cook, who has overseen the successfulness of this event for the past 12 years.

South Tahoe Refuse customers contributed more than a ton of food and other goodies last week for our 2004 Holiday Food Drive. Lots of fixings for holiday dinners and plenty of staples were delivered to Christmas Cheer, Sierra Recovery Center and the South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center for holiday baskets for local families.
The community has responded with generosity and good spirit to this annual Holiday Food Drive, tying many of the bags with ribbons and bows. Our South Tahoe Refuse collection personnel were proud to provide the manpower to make this event a reality.
South Tahoe Refuse and the Tahoe Tribune want to thank our customers and neighbors for the success of this community program. We hope that all good things come to you this holiday season and through the new year.
