KUDOS & KINDNESS: Students enjoyed museum tour

Mrs. Dickinson’s third grade class would sincerely like to thank the wonderful volunteers at the Lake Tahoe History Museum for the marvelous field trip we enjoyed on April 19. The students were enthralled by their tour in and around the museum grounds. Jeanne, Bob, Catherine, and Barbara led the children on a fascinating expedition around the grounds, explaining the uses of implements and buildings as we moved along. The students then participated in hands-on activities, using tools from long ago both to drill wood and to grind “corn” with a metate and mano. The magic continued inside the museum, with Cowgirl Kim as a dramatic tour guide, performing a bit of living history for the students as she led them through the museum. Photographer Janet documented the entire affair, seeming to be everywhere at once. Many students at Bijou Community School have rarely experienced the fascination of a museum.

Many, many thanks!

Jennifer Dickinson
