SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Sculptor Matthew Welter prepares to hang the American flag from his “Hand of Order” sculpture, a 30-foot Statue of Liberty interpretation that arrived at the Ski Run Marina Thursday. With the blessing of the city, the Ski Run Business Improvement District and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, Welter’s pedestal will be assembled over the next week and will rise June 30 in early-to-mid afternoon. The piece will remain at the marina through October for a string of celebrations and a summer-long carving performance.
