Lake Tahoe agency could make new director decision
LAKE TAHOE ” The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency could name a new director or extend the appointment of Interim Director Joanne Marchetta at its meeting Wednesday.
The governing board meets 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at The Chateau at 955 Fairway Blvd. in Incline Village.
The board is scheduled to discuss and possibly appoint a TRPA executive director after several other agenda items. If the board votes to extend Marchetta’s appointment, it could be to either open a broader search or continue considering Marchetta for the position.
“The board will get another opportunity to discuss replacing the executive director,” said TRPA Spokesman Dennis Oliver.
Former TRPA Executive Director John Singlaub announced his resignation in January. Marchetta was appointed as interim director at the end of February.
At the board’s February meeting, more than half of its 15 members said they would likely support Marchetta taking over the executive role.
The agenda item is broadly written, allowing the board to take a variety of actions that could include any or a combination of the following:
– Appointing Marchetta as the TRPA Executive Director
– Conducting a public interview with Marchetta
– Extending Marchetta’s interim appointment
– Opening an executive search to a broader candidate pool
If Marchetta is appointed as the TRPA Executive Director, the board will be able to discuss replacing Marchetta is the board’s general counsel.
