Lake Tahoe Air Fest practice starts today

Practice starts today for the Lake Tahoe Air Fest, which will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Lake Tahoe Airport.

Highlights include the air show, aircraft static displays, aerial stunt performances, sky diving demonstrations, simulated helicopter rescues, a large display of military and general aviation aircraft, and other high-flying attractions.

Gates open at 8 a.m. with the 2nd Annual Flying 5K and Junior Pilots Fun Runs from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. For more information, visit http://www.flying5k.com. A Kiwanis pancake breakfast goes from 8 to 11 a.m. Opening ceremonies begin at 10:30 a.m. with the NAS Fallon and Veterans of Foreign Wars providing color guards. The Air Show runs from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Food and beverages will be available throughout the day at the airport. Admission is $2 (Children under 12 are free.) Airport Parking is $10 (includes admission for all in the vehicle). Free bus transportation is provided from the “Y.”
