One of the region’s largest celebrations of food, wine, beer and spirits returns to North Shore this weekend.

Recognized as one of the premier festivals in Northern California, the 33rd annual Autumn Food & Wine Festival boasts “farm to table dinners, celebrity chefs, hands-on cooking demos, food, wine, beer and spirits pairings, trailside hikes and tastings, unique seminars and mixology series,” according to the event description.

Festivities get underway Friday, Sept. 7, with the Art of Mixology from 3:45-5 p.m. at the The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe.

“This entertaining, educational experience will feature freshly cut herbs, classic ingredients such as bitters and infused liquors to create three unique cocktails paired with appetizers,” states the event’s website.

The cost is $60.

Festivities continue through the weekend before culminating with the Sunday Culinary Competition and Grand Tasting at The Village at Northstar and The Overlook.

“An al fresco afternoon tasting features more than 25 top chefs in the region paired with 25 premium wines, spirits and brews in a formally judged food and wine pairing competition. Each chef’s dish is paired with a varietal and vintage from the winery or brewery of their choice.”
