Lake Tahoe under wind advisory

A lake wind advisory remains in effect from 11 a.m. this morning to 2 a.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
Southwest winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph by early afternoon and produce waves of 3 to 4 feet from mid lake to the east and north shores of Lake Tahoe.
Higher wave heights to near 5 feet are possible along the north and east shore from Kings Beach to Zephyr Cove, the weather service reports.
These strong winds and dangerous waves will continue into the evening. small boats will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve.
