Lake Tahoe weather: Sunny conditions then chance of rain this weekend

A mostly sunny start to the weekend will give way to stormy conditions that might stick around for the start of the week, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

Friday is expected to be mostly sunny at Lake Tahoe with a high temperature of 63 degrees on South Shore. The low temperature will drop to 36 degrees overnight.

Saturday will start out mostly sunny with a high temperature of 64 degrees on South Shore, according to the weather service.

A slight chance of rain is possible after 5 p.m. Saturday. The chance of precipitation will move from 10% to 20% Saturday night. The forecast calls for a low temperature of 40 degrees.

Sunday is expected to be noticeably colder and more likely to bring rain to the Tahoe Basin.

“Showers and thunderstorms will be possible over the weekend into early next week, with chances increasing through Monday. A modest cool down is also likely from Sunday through early next week,” states the weather service.

The forecast has a 50% chance of precipitation Sunday. The high temperatures in South Lake Tahoe could climb to 59 degrees. The low temperature will dip to 39 degrees.

Light winds of 5 mph are possible Sunday.

The week is expected to start with a 30% chance of precipitation. The high temperature is expected to reach 55 degrees.
