Lake wind advisory issued for Tahoe
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — Those planning to go out on Lake Tahoe Thursday in smaller watercraft may want to reconsider with strong winds in the forecast.
The National Weather Service in Reno issued a lake wind advisory that goes into effect at 10 a.m. Thursday and lasts through 8 p.m.
Western winds are expected to range in the 15-20 mph range with gusts up to 40 mph making waves up to 3 feet.
The rough water will be hazardous for small boats, kayaks and paddle boards.
Aside from gusty winds, Thursday will be sunny with a high near 50. Friday will be mostly sunny with a high around 60 and calm winds.
The weekend will also be sunny with high temperatures reaching 60.
A chance of rain and snow enters the forecast on Monday.
