Lakeside Beach Grill opens for the season
The Lakeside Beach Grill is set to open for its 11th season on Friday, May 23.
California and European cuisine complement the beach setting, along with the nuevo flamenco guitar duo of Martin and Vargas, who will play three nights a week.
“I have a good crew with people from all over the United States who all have one thing in common: They love Lake Tahoe,” said owner Zan Barker. “They also like good food.”
Barker said there will be nightly specials such as wild boar and fresh ahi. There’s also the annual Fourth of July lobster and clam bake, as well as Tuesday night wine tastings.
The guitarists enhance the ambiance.
“Those guys really set themselves on fire,” Barker said. “If the tables were any stronger, people would dance on them.”
Julian Martin and Dan Vargas, who are performing at the outdoor restaurant for the third summer, are close to completing a CD. They will play on the beach Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
“We have some new material, more originals and more cover tunes,” Martin said. “This is going to be a great season. With the beach and the water and sunset, it’s the best venue we’ve played. It really inspires us.”
Lakeside Beach Grill is open for lunch 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day but Tuesday. Appetizers are served from 4-5 p.m. Dinner is from 5-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.
A couple of wine dinners are in the works for July and August, Barker said.
