Las Vegas finished off a 48-21 season-opening win over the Douglas football team by scoring 27 unanswered points over the final quarter and a half at Las Vegas High School Friday night.

Johnny Pollack scored a pair of touchdowns on offense and picked off a pass on defense while Jordan Cruz returned a kick 99 yards for a touchdown to account for the Tigers’ scoring.

Douglas got on the board first after Pollack’s interception on the Wildcats’ first drive. He scored a couple plays later to take a 7-0 lead.

Las Vegas came back with 21 unanswered points before the Pollack punched one in for the Tigers just before halftime.

Douglas carried the momentum into the next half, as Cruz returned the kickoff for a touchdown and tied the game at 21.

The Tigers forced a punt on the next possession, taking over at their own 36, but they came up short on a fourth-down attempt, giving the Wildcats the ball at the Douglas 45.
