Last day to register to vote is Oct. 5

Michael Schneider

If you want a voice in how the country, state, county, town, district or city you live in is run, the time to act is now. Oct. 5 is the last day to register as a voter for the Nov. 3 general election.

To register, prospective voters must fill out a voter registration card and put it in the mail by the deadline.

According to Angela Peterson, South Lake Tahoe city clerk, the cards are easy to fill out and don’t require a stamp.

California voters can pick up cards in the lobbies of the Administrative Services building, 1052 Tata Lane, and the City Council Chambers at 1900 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

People living in California can also get cards at the El Dorado County Center at 3368 U.S. Highway 50, Ste. 108, at any post office, fire station, library and Social Services office, according to the county elections department.

Douglas County voters in the basin can find cards at the Douglas County Lake Administration Building at 175 U.S. Highway 50 or any post office. Prospective voters may also call the clerk-recorder’s office at (702) 782-9020 to request a card by mail.

For additional information, interested parties can call (800) 345-VOTE.
