The following incidents were selected from among those reported to area law enforcement and fire protection districts.

Sunday, July 15

5 a.m., Echo Summit – structure fire. A passerby notified the owner of a cabin that his outbuilding was on fire. Lake Valley firefighters responded. The 12- by 12-foot outbuilding was a total loss, but the cabin was undamaged.



5:20 p.m., Angora Lakes – medical aid. Emergency personnel were called after an 18-year-old Gardnerville boy injured himself jumping off the cliffs at Angora Lake. The boy fell about 45 feet into the water and got the breath knocked out of him, Lake Valley firefighters said. Originally believed to be a near drowning with serious trauma, the 18-year-old was transported by Forest Service personnel to a waiting ambulance in the parking lot. But then he declined transport.
