Layne returns with second Mark Twain performance

MacAvoy Layne will appear as that “Wild Humorist of the Western Slope, Mark Twain” at 7 p.m. Thursday. This will be the second time this summer that Twain will appear at the Lake of the Sky Amphitheater at Taylor Creek. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger.

At his first appearance this summer, Layne delighted the large crowd with Twain’s adventures out West in Virginia City and Lake Tahoe, and answered questions from the audience. Thursday’s show will be similar with stories for the children, humor for the adults and words of wisdom to live by for all. Layne will again take questions from the audience and answer as Mark Twain.

The outdoor setting of the Lake of the Sky Amphitheater is one of the favorite settings for Layne to perform as Mark Twain. “The dressing room, with its view of the Taylor Creek Meadow and Mount Tallac in the background, is as good as it comes,” Layne said. “‘The Old Man’ would have loved it.”

The Forest Service and the Tahoe Heritage Foundation make these programs possible. The Tahoe Heritage Foundation is a nonprofit organization that works with the Forest Service to conduct interpretive and environmental education programs in the Tahoe Basin.
