‘Leading Ladies’ to be performed at Lake Tahoe Community College

The Theatre Arts Department at Lake Tahoe Community College will present the comedy “Leading Ladies” Nov. 14 through 23 in the Duke Theatre. Written by Ken Ludwig, this is described as a mixture of “Some Like It Hot” and Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” with a little Monty Python-style thrown in.

The Leading Ladies referenced in the play’s title are, two Shakespearean actors who are down on their luck and performing “Scenes from Shakespeare” on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. When they hear that an old lady in York, is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long-lost English nieces, they scheme to pass themselves off as the women and get their share of the cash.

Performances take place Nov. 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees on Nov. 16 and 23 at 2 p.m. High school and college students with a current school identifications are invited to attend the show for free on Nov. 20, while seating is available.

Tickets cost $10 for general admission, $7 for seniors and groups of eight or more, and $5 for students with a valid student I.D. and children younger than 13. Tickets can be purchased in advance at LTCC’s Bookstore Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Friday 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. starting Nov. 3.
