Learn about bats this Thursday
August 11, 2008
Did you know a single bat can eat 600 insects or more in hour, and that only one in 1,000 will contract rabies?
Learn even more facts about the winged echolocators at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Lake of the Sky Amphitheater during a presentation titled “Bats, Winged Fliers of the Night.”
Bat conservationist and rehabilitator Patricia Winters will present the program, which will include an audio-visual presentation and feature live bats of several species, and attendees will learn why bat populations are declining and what people can do to help.
The program is sponsored by the U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit and the Tahoe Heritage Foundation. For more information, call (530) 543-2674.
