Legal action on the table today over school radon issue

Lake Tahoe parents fighting the closure of Kingsbury Middle School fired another salvo, threatening legal action over radon readings at Zephyr Cove Elementary School.

Zephyr Cove’s been leaking radon, which results from the decay of granite and is a big problem on the east shore of Lake Tahoe, since it was built. School board trustees meet 3:30 p.m. today, and the parents are expected to plead their case during public comment.

Board President Teri Jamin will share additional mitigation information. The board will then take further action as determined by the presentation.

The meeting begins at 3:30 p.m. At Douglas High School in Minden.
