Leon Abravanel signed by pro soccer team

Former South Tahoe High soccer player Leon Abravanel has launched a professional career.
Abravanel, a Denver University graduate, has signed with the Kitsap Soccer Club in Bremerton, Wash.
Kitsap is a member of the United Soccer League, a professional league just below Major Soccer League.
“It is a great honor to be with the Pumas. This is certainly a great group of individuals, including the staff, players and the community itself,” Abravanel said. “The idea of starting not only a team, but building a soccer community is more then I could ever ask for. This year’s team is the foundation for a generation of players. It’s a great responsibility and an] exciting privilege.”
“But first things first, I want win the PDL championship,” Abravanel. said. “Along with that, it is essential to create a Kitsap soccer culture where we have a following of fans. When those two are accomplished, all of the little things will fall into place.”
Kitsap coach John Wedge already has favorable impressions of his midfielder.

“Intelligent player, strong in the air, loves to get forward – physical,” Wedge said. “Good tech skills, defends well, loves to overlap.”
The Pumas open their season May 2 at the Spokane Spiders.
