Letter — Club Live donates $2,100 to OPEN

On Dec. 5 Larry Lambdin and Club Live members donated $2,100 to OPEN to buy five handicapped sleds, a three-month South Tahoe Middle School and community project. A week before Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe gave $800 to support the effort — enough for two sleds. St. John’s in the Wilderness Episcopal Church has donated $400. Thanks for all your donations.

On Nov. 8 a combined effort of the Elks Lodge and Al Smith’s Dance Band with invited public was a real challenge because of the turbulent weather. The band was so very talented, the food delicious, and the cause worthy.

Thank you to the Elks and Dance Band members who contributed.

Band members are Rich Davis, Bruce Cox, Tony Carr and Ron Darby, saxophone; Al Smith Gil Linsley, John Beckman and Terry Burns, trumpet; Curt Fremont, Bill Wannamacher, David Young and Jay Bigelow, trombone; Ken Wilson, piano; Jim Grubb, percussion; and Alan Ginter, string bass.

Elks members are XRay Olsen, chef; Clyde A. Perlenfein, secretary; Tony Bellu, trustee chairman; and Pete Lococco, club manager.

In the spring the band wants to return to celebrate the success of all the people involved in this paralympic sled hockey achievement.
