Letter — Elks Lodge fills stockings for vets

Dan Thrift/Tahoe TribuneLake Tahoe Elks member Frank Lawrence fills Christmas stockings which he and Earl Halliday delivered to patients at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Reno.

As long as there are veterans in the hospitals, The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them. South Lake Tahoe Elks members filled Christmas stockings with toiletries such as toothpaste, tooth brushes, mouthwash, shampoo, lotion, conditioner, soap and playing cards. Earl Halliday, who played Santa Claus, and his elf, Frank Lawrence, filled and delivered the Christmas stockings to the veterans at the V.A. Hospital in Reno.

The items were donated by several businesses and individuals and we wish to thank all the people who made this possible. Thanks to Harrah’s, Tahoe Valley Pharmacy, Emerald Bay Dentistry, Mildred Wilson and Bill’s Lake Tahoe Casino.
