Letter — Families thank Christmas Club
I would like to be the voice of a few families in the community that really appreciate a reaching hand in time of need. When unemployment came, when surgery was needed, when there was no money for Christmas presents or rent — someone was there to help. All we needed to do was just ask.
The Grajeda family want to say a big thank you to The Sharing Christmas Club. Nine families got together and adopted a family in need for Christmas, providing them with clothes, shoes and certificates for food and Christmas presents. They also want to thank the Tahoe Care Coalition and the South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center for assisting them with money when they were about to become homeless.
Rosa Santana’s family says thank you to the Barton Community Clinic for selecting them this year to be their adoptive family for Christmas. Without their support, Rose said, “my children wouldn’t have presents because our salaries are just enough to pay for food and rent.”
Patricia Rodriguez and family really appreciated having a surgery that will allow her to take care of her children. Thanks to Stephen Banner, M.D. and Barton Memorial Hospital physical therapy department for waiving part of the cost, so she could have her health back.
Rebecca Novak with The Sharing Christmas Club said that sharing and giving are the key words for Christmas. The mission of this group is to revive and promote the meaning of these words. It is gratifying to see that once again the Tahoe community has worked together to assist one another in times of need.
