Letter: Maria Salud Salvacion

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 19 for Maria Salud Salvacion, who died Oct. 14, 2000, at Washoe Medical Center in Reno, Nev. She was 83.

Mrs. Salvacion was born April 6, 1917, in the Philippines Islands and was a 20-year resident of South Lake Tahoe. She was in the Philippines during the Japanese occupation and when Gen. Douglas MacArthur returned for the liberation of the islands. She was a very faithful member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.

She is survived by son, Emmanuel Salvacion of Reno; daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Frank Schinzing of South Lake Tahoe and Dina and John Hill of Australia; daughters, Helen Roqueza of Alaska and Ida Salvacion, Praxy Salvacion and Elizer Espinoza, all of South Lake Tahoe; brothers, Robert Vergara and George Vergara, both of the Philippine Islands; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. and a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18 at McFarlane Mortuary Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, followed by interment at Happy Homestead Cemetery.
