LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Boycotting BP won’t help clean up oil spill

With all due respect, boycotting BP and its affiliates is a bit misdirected. At this point, supporting BP so they will have funds to clean up and make restitution for damages is more appropriate.

If BP goes bankrupt, our government (taxpayers) will be responsible for the cost of clean-up and restitution.

The Gulf area has over 300,000 oil workers, plus their families. Halting drilling will add to the already growing number of unemployed. The long-term effects of this disaster will not be aided by taking moral stands against our government and BP.
