LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Choosing to live in the forest

I am still surprised that there are Tahoe residents that are afraid of the small animals that live in the forested area surrounding the Lake. These animals range in size from the chipmunks to the small bears (go to Alaska for big bears). The man who shot a small bear in Tahoma needs to go back to a big city where he can feel safe again. There is a personal responsibility for living in a forested community. Try to respect the area that you chose to live in. Most people are smarter than these little animals.

It seems to be a typical response for law enforcement to look the other way and let people shoot our wildlife. Killing animals at Lake Tahoe seems to be happening more and more frequently. Prosecute the people who kill little animals.
